Sina, a black metal artist from Tehran, was forced to leave Iran because of the genre of music he is working with. He has chosen a life in exile, away from his own country and his own family to be able to express himself as a musician and artist. In October, he sat down with Nosizwe to talk about freedom, music and what to sacrifice to live as an artist.

Sina was the first musician SafeMUSE welcomed to Norway in January 2014 in cooperation with film production company Gammaglimt (now UpNorth Film) after SafeMUSE was established in December 2013. He has stayed on since and is very active with his band From the Vastland.

Nosizwe is a Norwegian/ SouthAfrican soul singer based in Oslo. She released her debut album "In Fragments" in November 2016 that was nominated for the Nordic Music Prize the same year. And she has also had a great success in the role as Nina Simone at the Nordic Black Theater

During the next months we will release a series of minidocumentaries that portraits the meeting between established Norwegian artists and threatened artists. We mark the end of the series with the celebration of Music Freedom Day, March 3rd 2019.

We have the freedom to lift up these stories. That is reason enough to do it.
